It was a stimulating and satisfying experience. We especially enjoyed the Opening Reception. We went expecting to put in our time at a boring open house with the mandatory awards ceremony. We found a vibrant, friendly, interesting group of people who were all enjoying an evening of art, conversation, and scrumptious goodies. Mayor Joe Johnson added his special brand of friendliness and enthusiasm and there was a feeling of cohesiveness and mutual respect that I have not experienced at an open house before. The enthusiasm for the display and the contributions of the various artists was palpable. I would encourage everyone to attend the opening ceremonies at least once. I think you'll enjoy. As chairmen, we are adding a few extra twists to the exhibit this year, starting with a wide variety of entries. We encourage everyone who participates in the field of art to consider entering the exhibit this year. Categories include painting/drawing, ceramics/pottery, quilting/needlework, photography, woodworking, metalworking, sculpting, crafts. Feel the joy of seeing your work displayed among the finest art work the county has to offer. The theme for 2011 is "They Did Not Doubt". We do not doubt that this will be one of the finest years for the Handcart Days Arts and Crafts exhbits yet and invite you to join us in making it so.
